Satellite Ground Station – A Dual-Purpose Watch Project Developed with KSAT
Satellite Ground Station is one of ÁIGI’s most defining projects — a watch developed in close collaboration with KSAT (Kongsberg Satellite Services), inspired by satellite operations above the Arctic Circle and in Antarctica.
The project was deliberately executed in two parallel tracks:
- an internal version, produced exclusively for KSAT and given as a Christmas gift to their employees
- and a public version, launched through an open campaign and made available to watch enthusiasts worldwide
Both versions share the same core design language and technical platform, while serving different purposes.
The result is a watch that functions both as a meaningful corporate project and a fully realized retail timepiece — without compromise in design, quality, or intent
Developed with KSAT
KSAT operates one of the world’s most advanced satellite ground station networks, connecting spacecraft with Earth across some of the planet’s most demanding environments.
Satellite Ground Station was created to reflect this reality.
The watch draws inspiration from:
- satellite radomes
- ground station architecture
- precision engineering in extreme Arctic conditions
The design is technical, structured, and purposeful — reflecting the environment and mindset of satellite operations rather than decorative watchmaking trends.
Two Versions, One Platform
Internal KSAT Edition
The internal version of Satellite Ground Station was produced exclusively for KSAT and distributed to employees as a Christmas gift.
This version was designed to:
- reflect KSAT’s identity and field of operation
- function as a long-term, professional timepiece
- serve as a shared symbol for employees across roles and locations
It was never offered for retail sale.
Public Release
In parallel, ÁIGI launched a public version of Satellite Ground Station through an open campaign.
This allowed watch enthusiasts and collectors to access the same core design and engineering — while keeping the internal KSAT edition distinct in purpose and execution.
The public release became one of ÁIGI’s most visible and successful launches, introducing the brand to a global audience while staying true to the project’s professional roots.
Design Philosophy

Visual languange
Design Philosophy & Visual Language
Satellite Ground Station was designed as a direct interpretation of satellite infrastructure — not as a decorative theme, but as a functional design language.
Every visual element on the watch references real components found in satellite ground station environments.
Radome-Inspired Dial
The dial structure is inspired by satellite radomes — the protective spherical enclosures that house antennas at ground stations around the world.
- The pattern reflects the segmented geometry of radome surfaces.
- Light interacts differently across the dial, creating depth without excessive texture.
This gives the watch a distinct identity that reveals itself gradually, rather than demanding attention.
Crown Design
In February 2022 we collected steel from the first antenna ever built at the Troll Ground Station in Antarctica (close to the South Pole). The crown shaped like a satellite ground antenna will be made using this steel, so you can feel the connection to the universe whenever you check the time.
When you wear one of our KSAT watches you alsowear a piece of metal that has been in contact with satellites traversing outer space. A piece of metal that has been collecting world-changing data for fifteenyears under extreme conditions.
The Seconds Hand
The 'second hand' features a BGW9-lumed satellite to visualize the satellites orbiting the earth and the ground stations.
Caseback
Featuring sapphire glass as a see-through window that visualizes the earth, with a satellite ground station engraved on the back, along with engraved satellite and stars.
From Corporate Project to Reference Platform
Satellite Ground Station is more than a single watch model.
